Linda Sarbo, PhD, Communications & Content Management

Linda Sarbo is a business communications specialist with more than 15 years experience managing, writing, and editing corporate communications projects.  She is responsible for developing TIA's website content, editing E-News from TIA, and overseeing content development for business promotion and marketing materials.

Dr. Sarbo is Web writing specialist with Context, a Web writing specialty firm that provides content development and technology marketing services for website designers, developers, and owners.  In addition to developing content for a wide range of commercial and public information websites, Dr. Sarbo has produced Web-based surveys, tutorials and training materials, electronic newsletters, strategic business and marketing plans, technology proposals, patent applications, press releases, and collateral marketing materials for Internet businesses.

Before joining Context in 1999, Dr. Sarbo was director of communications for an environmental engineering firm in Tampa, Florida.  In this capacity, she developed content for and managed preparation of corporate proposals, technical reports, print marketing materials, newsletters, press releases, articles and columns for trade publications, client communications, and operations manuals.  Dr. Sarbo wrote and edited RFPs, grant proposals, white papers, educational CDs, presentations, speeches, press releases, and brochures for clients, including the United States Postal Service, Burger King Corporation, the Cities of Tallahassee and Jacksonville, and Alachua, Highlands, Palm Beach, Seminole, and Sumter Counties.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Sarbo has developed and taught innovative writing workshops for the University of South Florida's Department of Professional and Workforce Development.  She currently offers seminars in business writing, writing for the Web, proposal writing, and writing for HR professionals.  Dr. Sarbo regularly conducts on-site professional training for corporate clients including CitiCorp, Capital One, GTE, Verizon/TSI, Software Architects, Tribridge Consulting, and the Florida Engineering Society.  In 2000, she developed a popular certificate program in Technical Communication for the university.

Dr. Sarbo's prior business experience includes serving as Vice President, Real Estate for an international investment management firm with offices in Tampa and Dallas.  Dr. Sarbo was responsible for planning and implementing development projects and leasing programs that increased occupancy rates by 80 percent and rental rates by 50 percent for a portfolio of investor-owned commercial real estate in the southeast U.S.  Dr. Sarbo prepared development proposals, presentations, operating budgets, and annual reports and managed investor relations.

Dr. Sarbo has published books, articles, and essays on writing, and she is a frequent presenter on business writing topics for business and professional groups.  She received the Florida Suncoast Writers' Conference Poetry Award in 1993, the Academy of American Poets Award in both 1991 and 1992, and the Alice B. Saunders Award for the Outstanding PhD Candidate in English in 1994.  Dr. Sarbo is a member of Phi Kappa Phi National Arts and Letters Honor Society and is listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities in the Southeast.
