David W. Appel, CPA, Finance & Accounting

David W. Appel is a shareholder in the Tampa, Florida firm of Cherry Bekaert & Holland, LLP. Mr. Appel, who is a leader in the tax planning and compliance division of the practice, provides strategic financial planning and tax consulting services for TIA.

Prior to joining Cherry, Bekaert & Halland, LLP Mr. Appel held positions with international accounting firms.  His areas of concentration include comprehensive planning for closely held entities, S Corporations, partnerships, and controlled groups and tax planning for individuals.  He has significant experience representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service in connection with U.S. and international tax compliance issues.

Mr. Appel is active in a number of Tampa Bay Area community service and religious organizations. He has served as an officer, board member, and chair for committees of the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Tampa and currently is president of the Kiwanis Foundation.

Mr. Appel's professional affiliations include membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Florida Institute of Certfified Public Accountants.  He has previously served on the State Tax Committee for the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Mr. Appel has been a guest speaker at continuing education courses for professional and business organizations and has authored articles for local newspapers and national publications.

Mr. Appel graduated from Florida State University with a BS in accounting. He is a member of Beta Alpha Psi National Accounting Honor Society.
